Marketing, Communications, & Public Relations Intern for Green Jobs & Innovation
Overview:
Working at the Ohio Environmental Council is a great experience for anyone looking to learn more about marketing, communications and public relations in a business setting with Ohio's leading advocate for fresh air, clean water, and renewable energy.
As an intern you will work with the Director of Green Jobs & Innovation to catalog and track daily green economy news articles, draft clean energy email alerts and website content, develop social media content, and perform various other tasks such as proofing weekly communication materials, fact sheets, infographics, and more.
Interns work closely with graphic designers to create dynamic materials that convey the positive economic and environmental impacts of Ohio’s clean energy economy.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with marketing efforts geared toward businesses, community organizations, policy makers, and earned media
- Write and distribute weekly green jobs news roundup
- Collect and analyze data captured in green jobs news roundup
- Work to promote the Ohio Environmental Council through various social media networks and tools
- Execute other public relations activities as directed
Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Self-motivated and flexible
- Strong editing and proofreading skills are highly desirable
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office

Graphic Design Intern for Green Jobs & Innovation
Working at the Ohio Environmental Council is a great experience for anyone looking to learn more about graphic design in a business setting with Ohio's leading advocate for fresh air, clean water, and renewable energy.
As an intern you will work with the Director of Green Jobs and Innovation to develop compelling and dynamic content for both print and electronic media. Interns work closely with staff to create original material that conveys the positive economic and environmental impacts of Ohio’s clean energy economy.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with marketing efforts geared toward businesses, community organizations, policy makers, and earned media audiences
- Develop creative materials (fact sheets, infographics, newsletters, logos, etc.)
- Work to promote the Ohio Environmental Council through various social media networks and tools
- Execute other graphic design activities as directed
Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Self-motivated and highly creative
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Highly proficient in Photoshop and Illustrator (intern must have his/her own access to Adobe Creative/Design Suite)

Midwest Climate & Energy Federal Policy Coordinator - National Wildlife Federation, RE-AMP
National Wildlife Federation is currently seeking a Climate & Energy Policy Coordinator to work with the RE-AMP task force to develop a regional climate and energy strategy for Midwest engagement in federal policy development.
Responsibilities
(1) 50% Federal Policy Coordination for the REAMP Network: This half of the position will coordinate federal policy for RE-AMP, a network of 100+ nonprofit organizations and foundations collaborating to achieve 80% reductions of greenhouse gas emissions in the Midwest by 2030.
The Network’s region includes 8 states and five issue-based working groups: Energy Efficiency, Clean Energy, Clean up Coal, Global Warming Solutions, and Transportation. The position will provide information on federal initiatives to Midwest organizations, coordinate Network actions on federal measures, and help Network members communicate Midwest priorities to federal actors. This half of the position will be jointly supervised by REAMP and NWF.
(2) 50% Midwest Climate and Energy Policy Coordination for NWF: This half of the position will support NWF’s work to enact policy to address climate change at a state and regional level and to implement climate solutions across the Midwest. The person in this position will research, analyze, review, and develop energy and climate policy of importance to the region.
In addition, they will support and advocate for policy positions with decision makers and key NWF constituencies through a variety of outreach methods, including effective verbal and written communication, and engagement of the media. This half of the position will be supervised by NWF.
Qualifications:
- Experience in organizing a network or coalition around a specific campaign.
- Experience engaging state-level advocates in a federal campaign is highly desirable.
- Experience working in the RE-AMP region and knowledge of regional demographics and politics desirable.
- Educational background relevant to public policy.
- Ability to see “big picture,” work in coalitions, and work with multiple stakeholders to move forward toward a common goal.
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to understand, evaluate, and communicate qualitative and quantitative policy analyses.
- Ability to produce original qualitative and quantitative policy analyses highly desirable.
- Experience working in non-profits.
- Finally, preference will be given to those with strong computer skills, including experience with the world-wide web, e-mail, list serves, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
- Bachelor’s Degree in natural resources or related field (preferred)
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience (preferably with federal policy)
