Green Teams
The
OEC's work to protect and restore Ohio's air, land, and water has a far greater impact
when the public is involved - nothing
is more effective in making change than active, organized citizens.
That is the heart of the OEC's Green Teams program.
Whether you are a veteren at Ohio Statehouse meetings or have
never stepped foot in the Capitol, you, too, can roll up
your sleeves and help educate your lawmakers about environmental issues that are important to you.
Being part of a Green Team is fun, easy, and vital!
All you need to join a Green Team
is dedication to protecting Ohio’s
environment. The OEC will provide the rest!
- A little time learn to about
current conservation and environmental protection issues
in Ohio. The OEC will provide you with news articles, testimony,
and position papers to help you.
- A few moments to respond to Action Alerts via e-mail. The Green Team program can be your platform
to tell your legislators that you care about clean air, land, and
water!
- The satisfaction that you are
an important part of helping to improve Ohio’s conservation
and environmental protection policies. Being the change
you want to see in the world is more than active citizenship,
it is empowering yourself and others to create communities
that reflect your values and protect your way of life!
- A strong relationship with your state legislators
and government officials. Many Green Team members occasionally
meet with their legislators in their hometowns to discuss
important laws, helping the OEC put environmental legislation
into a local context and illustrating how improved laws
will benefit community heritage, environmental quality, and
public health where you live!
- Support from the OEC staff to help you become an
expert citizen-lobbyist. We will send you newsletters and e-mails updating you on the status of key legislation.
- As a Green Team member you are also an OEC member and will receive free or discounted admission to OEC trainings and
special events.
