Green Jobs & Innovation

Recently, the field of clean energy technology has emerged as one of Ohio's economic bright spots. The driving force behind this progress, as well as the jobs that come with it, is the idea that environmental protection and job creation can work together.

By fostering smart public policy that rewards private sector innovation and drives investment in clean energy, Ohio is developing essential tools for renewing our economy and energizing job creation.

Ohio Green Pathways

The Ohio Green Pathways project links education and training opportunities with jobs in green industries across the state.

Specifically, the Ohio Green Pathways project will develop the University System of Ohio's capacity to produce a green collar workforce by:

  • Establishing Ohio as THE green industry leader
  • Expanding access to affordable education and defined career pathways for green industries
  • Increasing the number of graduates and attracting more degree holders from out of state
  • Building and marketing Ohio's green job pathways as an economic development tool to help businesses find quality employees and attract businesses to Ohio

Through this unique program, Ohio will be a leader in developing a workforce trained for green jobs and new green industries by providing easy access to affordable, high-quality education and training pathways.

The Ohio Green Pathways project is a collaboration between the University System of Ohio and the Ohio Environmental Council. The initial step of the Pathways project is a downloadable catalog of the University System of Ohio's community college green associate degree and certificate training programs, as well as their new program offerings and emerging fields of demand in their regions.
