| Released in June of 2006, the OEC’s report—Ohio Climate Road Map, Part Two (PDF)—emphasizes that Ohio industry is well positioned to be a major supplier of the technology necessary to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It also stresses that immediate investment by industry, government, and consumers in existing and emerging technologies can pay big dividends to the state’s environment and economy as well as help Ohio avoid more challenging emission cuts later. The report covers the roles of diesel cleanup, methane reduction and nitrous oxide, as well as carbon dioxide reduction. By delving into the electric power, transportation, and heating/industrial sectors, the OEC lays out some practical technology solutions. Other side topics include nuclear power, electricity from hydrogen fuel cells, land use change, soils and vegetation, and geologic formations. |
